Shanna Bynes is an Aromatherapist, Licensed Medical Aesthetician, Natural Nail Specialist, and Professional Makeup artist who completed a Diploma in Aromatherapy from ACHS in 2019. She is the CEO of Grow Out Oils and also provides custom formulations for physicians and high-end luxury spas. Cindy Lane Ross is the owner of four businesses, a full-time student, a bodybuilder, and has successfully kept her Rheumatoid Arthritis in remission for years through exercise and diet. Now, she is pursuing an MS in Holistic Nutrition so that she can help others! Her business Life Wellness Forever focuses on hormone balancing, fitness, nutrition, and functional medicine. What are students saying? The Aromatherapy program offered me the opportunity to obtain a formal education in my favorite subject area while working full-time. I found the curriculum to be informative and appropriately challenging. The faculty was knowledgeable and approachable. Jay Nicholas Master of Science in Aromatherapy I’ve been writing professionally for three decades, but in recent years have shifted my focus. I’m asking fewer questions about various business topics and more questions of those taking part in the conversation, especially considering habits, change, stress, resilience and hope. I became a Certified Health and Wellness Coach through Wellcoaches in early 2019, and opened my coaching business, Gates Open Wellness, not long after. My concurrent studies with ACHS—a Certificate in Wellness Consulting—have helped me fill in gaps of knowledge in terms of stress management, sports nutrition, holistic pathophysiology, business practices and integrative health. Altogether, it’s been a great experience! Aromatherapy, 2020 Previous Next ACHS News & Events ACHS Donates to Mudbone Grown After a Successful Ecochallenge Portland, Ore.—August 18, 2020—American College of Healthcare Sciences’ (ACHS) is pleased to announce that the college will be donating $1,000 to Mudbone Grown, a local Black-owned farm that promotes inter-generational community-based farming with a focus on sustainable environmental, social, cultural, and economic impacts in communities. The college will also be donating $500 to Ocean Matters, an organization known for marine science through service. The donations come as a result of ACHS staff, faculty, family, and friends working together as a team to reduce plastic use as a part of the Plastic Free Ecochallenge. At the beginning of the month, Chief Marketing Officer Kate Harmon challenged the ACHS Ecochallenge Team to earn 10,000 points in the Plastic Free Ecochallenge for the college to make the donations. At the end of the month, the college had earned 19,676 points and finished 9th place nationally, 2nd place among schools, and 1st place in Oregon.
